Earth Day

Well.. yesterday was Earth Day and I attended a ‘tree planting’ in Colborne, Ontario - celebrating Hoselton Sculptures 40th anniversary in business and announcing a ‘new’ business named ‘Hoselton Eco Community’. We are working on a new little web site and members area and a special tree sculpture, made for this community, is now for sale. When you ‘buy’ a sculpture, you automatically become a member and part of all funds go to a non-profit organization helping the environment. All details should be on their site shortly - this is just the start - lots more to do.

Discovered new free web service

With all the travelling I have been doing over the past year, one of the things that bothers me is that I am very familiar with my ‘own’ home page in IE (or Firefox) - and then, when visiting, I am on someone else’s machine and lost! Well… I get lots of newsletter, one of which is from techcoachforcoaches.com. Yesterday the Tech Coach mentioned a site where you could list your favourites(thumbnails) for easy access from any computer. They claim you can locate web sites that you visit on a regular basis, with 2 clicks. So am giving it a try - appears easy enough. Here is address: www.only2clicks.com
If this works well, it should cut down a lot of time and frustration…. crossing my fingers!

Found another job search site

As all my clients and friends are aware, for the past while I have been trying to relocate ‘back’ to Toronto - and looking for ‘real’ employment through networking and also on-line job listings. I tend to like the search sites that go all over for their results. AND, just found another one to add to my list: Indeed

In case you didn’t know, here are a few other job sites not as big as Workopolis, but definitely worth a look — Eluta -and WOW Jobs Also, lately, one of the better sites for job listings appears to be Charity Village.

This is a first!

Well - finally got this blog to work. Even set up a ‘general’ category.  It is easier than I thought to create pages, etc. And lately I seem to be sending out more and more ‘info e-mails’ to clients and friends - time-consuming and my e-mail program is out of control these days. Soooo…..thought I would start a blog and simply write news or interesting information I receive here instead of sending e-mails. Besides… the time had come to take the leap…

If you are wondering about the ‘theme’ of this blog- well, considering all the snow in the past winter, I thought something ‘bright’ was in order. A few of the other blog designs were really nice but clashed with my site design. Guess I will have to spruce up my web site as well. It has been a very long, long winter.

Not completely sure on where I will go with this blog.  I guess it will just be a new adventure!

This is just a note about a program that will convert/make PDFs.  Ipswitch has partnered with Nuance (formerly ScanSoft) to offer you a special deal on the brand new version of their award-winning product PDF Converter Professional 5.  I use WS FTP Pro which is an Ipswitch product and this company is considered very reputable.  Considering the price of Adobe Acrobat, you might want to give this a try.

Here is part of their announcement

“the number of PDF documents indexed by Google™ is topping 100,000,000. PDF has quickly become the electronic equivalent of printed paper and ultimately the worldwide standard for sharing documents. That’s because PDF documents are compact, universally viewable, print the same as they do from their original application, and they’re not as susceptible to carrying computer viruses as other formats.

Best of all, PDF Converter Professional 5 gives you everything you need to create PDFs, edit them, convert them to fully-formatted Microsoft Office documents, and make any PDF form instantly fillable - all within a single, affordable application. It’s the ultimate PDF no-brainer!
